2020 has been a roller coaster so far and with all the craziness going on around us, we've been making some big behind-the-scenes changes to our little shop, previously known as Eastern Boho. Over the New Year period (It feels like a hundred years ago now, doesn't it?) we took a step back from Eastern Boho to really focus on our 'why'.
I'm no sales person and so if I am not 100% in love with something, I have no hope of being able to market it to someone else... and I don't want to!
Luckily, we personally curate all of our rugs and so I am literally in love with every single one of them. I'm also obsessed with travel and culture and the craftsmanship that goes into each of them. But I was struggling to explain to myself the importance of providing rugs to people. When there is so much going on in the world, is a beautiful home really that important?
Then Covid hit and we all started spending a lot more time at home. All of a sudden it became so clear to me that art and beauty are so closely linked with our well-being. We spent our days in quarantine listening to music, watching films, looking at beautiful photographs and artworks, and tidying, organizing and styling our home so that it was somewhere we enjoyed spending our time. Art, in all its forms, helped us to stay positive throughout everything else that was happening.
I'm actually a singer and part-time music teacher - something most of you probably don't know - so I've always felt the importance of art at a personal level, but have struggled to articulate how it's "helpful" to the world. Having a heart-centered business is essential to me and this "light-bulb" moment has tied our whole business philosophy together and strengthened our commitment to growing this beautiful love of ours so that we can act as a bridge between art (rugs and textiles) from around the world and your home. We changed our name to Home & Loom as we wanted to be clear from the outset on what we provide - authentic handmade rugs and textiles for your home.
We're now offering a huge clearance sale as way to start fresh and we are so appreciative of every single one of you for following along with us on this journey and for supporting us at every turn. Thank you!
